MEB - CAMPUS COMPETITION BURSA

BURSA TÜRKIYE - 2013
ABOUT

While campuses create functional, aesthetical and social environments for students and teachers in line with the universal principles of education, they also form a field of attraction for the cultural, social and sportive activities of the urban people in the city part where they are located. In this sense, in the design that we developed for Bursa Nilüfer Education Campus, the program is distributed evenly in the campus area to provide a multifaceted education environment with interior and external spaces while the campus entrance and main square opposite the park in the southern end of the field joined the city and the campus within a urban open area continuity. Masses and open areas positioned around the alley extending in the north east direction starting from the main square and around the second axles connected to it are directed towards to the plantation area in the east of the land. The campus encompasses the green texture and the open areas in the campus integrated with the green texture. The conference centre, science museum and planetarium and general administration centre are located in the entrance square, while the classroom blocks are in the west wing of the main alley. Social and cultural units as well as multi-purpose halls are located in the east wing. Dormitories, dining hall, closed and open sport areas are located in the north of the land in close relation to each other. Heavy student population is distributed to the classroom blocks extending in the east to west axle in accordance with the climate data. The backbone structure developed in the north to south direction configures the horizontal and vertical circulation between blocks. With the galleries and atrium formed along the backbone, enhanced interior spaces were created which ensures socialization of students. Laboratories, painting and music classrooms, rooms of teachers and education unit officers are located along the backbone with a homogeneous distribution.
