KEYPORT

ANKARA TÜRKİYE - 2011
ABOUT

This commercial is located in a recently developed – new commercial center of capital Ankara, Ümitköy on Alacaatlı boulevard. The site is combination of two lots, one is square and the other is lineer and total of 17300m² area with a total construction area of 21300m². Perception of continuity is considered on the main boulevard.
Although the area is planned as housing region, the evolution of reality has developed this part of the city as a commercial center. So from the first user the building is going to be used as a retail. Designing a commercial center with the regulation of housing has brought a lot of difficulties during design period.
Gül Güven: the user is very important for us. For this building, we knew that the user will change a lot. We did not want the details to change with each user. At the end, a generic but a characteristic design evolved. The desire of the investor is to create a high quality commercial center that can shelter different users, with different function.
There are 50 units in the project and all can access to open area directly. So a strong the interaction with the street and courtyard is enhanced.
Precast concrete, glass and steel are the main and only materials in this project. On the main boulevard facade, colonade path of steel and concrete emphasizes the rhythm of the units.
