LILAN MUSIC SCHOOL
ABOUT
The building is located on the Koşuyolu Street. It is a typical attached structure with ground floor plus two floors. Lilan Family wanted to establish a music school for their daughter and when they saw the completion of the construction, they found that the building didn’t have an appearance convenient to be a music school. Thus the adventure started when they consulted VEN Architecture. The structure is a work of small scale and valuable since it was the first structure of VEN Architecture in İstanbul 11 years ago. A new facet was given to the existing ground despite the limitations of budget and time. The existing structure was effective in the design while we were requested not to make substantial changes. The eaves formed from wood, glass and steel was effective in hiding the undesired concrete eaves on the roof. There is a piano shop on the entrance floor of the building and there is a common platform providing access to the entrances of both the structure and the sales office. A continues eaves on the front allows integrity of these two units. The basement was designed as an enjoyable dance studio living together with the back garden. The other floors include music studios. The penthouse was utilized as administrative office. As a result of decisions for façade design, the existing bow window was demolished and a new design was made with consideration to the function of the building. Glass, wooden and weather boarding material were used on the front and the work with wooden elements appears in the simplicity of the front. The glass illumination line on the bow window is remarkable with lineament in the evenings, while the colourful mosaic work make the building attractive with colourful reflections.
